Can You Wear a Felt Hat in the Rain?

flat lay of felt fedora hats

We LOVE spring. But you know what they say, April flowers bring May showers. That's right - we’re going to talk about rain + hats. You wake up to the pitter patter of raindrops + your first thought is: “Shoot! Can I still wear my Gigi Pip hat today?”. Don’t worry, all the answers are right here.

Our general advice when wearing a wool / felt hat is that light rain is okay! Our felt hats can get wet, but they are not made to be wet for long periods. If you're planning on being in heavy rain for an extended period of time, it could do some damage + cause the hat to shrink or lose its shape.

If you get caught in the rain in a felt hat, pat the water off, leave it on a flat surface brim facing down + let it dry. It's important to keep your felt hat clean to prevent water spots. Our hat brush, lint rollers + cleaning sponge can help to keep your hat looking pristine! If the hat seems to be losing its shape, you can steam the hat to build the shape back. We have so many great resources on how to keep your hat in good shape. You can check them out here.
